Two ways to train with me

The story

Training in the gaps

I'm Tiago, Tigz to most people. I run G-Tech Steel and Startline Labs, I'm doing a postgraduate diploma, and I race for Alberton AAC on road, trail and triathlon.

Nothing about my training is full-time. Every session fits around meetings, deadlines and lectures. That's what I'm good at: getting fitter on limited hours without breaking down.

Next up is UTCT PT55 on 20 November, then the road to Comrades 2027. I film all of it on YouTube, with the numbers.

Hybrid is my game

Three sports.
One engine.

Most coaches pick a lane. I train endurance and strength together, because that's how I race and how busy people actually want to train. These are my real routes, straight from Strava.

Legs that don't cramp at 40 km are built in the gym. Strength is what keeps my endurance durable.

Your race plan, built for you

Five quick steps: your race, where you are now, your week, your body, then your plan. It finds the most training you can safely absorb before race day, and saves it to your account.

Start the plan builderMy plans
≤10%No run more than 10% longer than your longest in the last 30 days. Bigger spikes raised injury rates by 52–128% in a study of 5,205 runners.
80%+Easy running, with short, focused hard sessions.
3:1Three build weeks, then a cutback week to absorb the work.
2×Strength sessions a week, never the day before your long run.

Built for busy people

You've got 5 to 9 hours a week and need every one of them to count.

You've got a big race

Comrades, a first marathon, an Ironman, UTCT. A date on the calendar and a bit of fear.

You like numbers

You want to see why the plan works, not just be told to trust it.

Questions

FAQ

Do I need a Garmin or Strava?

A watch with heart rate helps a lot, because that's how metres per heartbeat is measured. Strava connects to Startline. If you don't use Strava, you can log runs manually.

What qualifications and experience do you have?

Qualification: NASM Personal Fitness Trainer Professional Certificate.

Racing: Ironman South Africa 2026, Ironman 70.3 Durban, Comrades Up 2026, UTCT PT55 and 7 marathons in 2026, with zero DNFs.

Strength: a powerlifting background, with 99 strength sessions logged this year. I coach what I've raced and lifted.

Can I coach with you for any race?

Yes. Road races from 5 km to Comrades, trail and mountain ultras, and triathlon from sprint to full Ironman.

Can I keep lifting while I train for an ultra or Ironman?

Yes, and you should. The 1:1 Hybrid package plans your gym sessions and runs together, so heavy leg days don't land before your long run.

How do I pay?

By EFT. Monthly packages are paid in advance on the 1st of the month. The Race Plan is paid once before I build it.

Can I cancel?

Yes. Monthly coaching has a 1-month minimum, since you get your full plan as a PDF straight away. After the first month, cancel any time with 30 days' notice. Race Plans are a once-off payment, so there's nothing to cancel.

I'm injured or coming back from injury. Can you help?

See a physio or doctor first. Once you're cleared to run, I'll build back up slowly around what they advise.
